The hatchery, which has been seven years in the works is being partly funded by the Grant and Chelan Public Utility Districts in Washington State.&amp;nbsp; Once complete next year, the facility will have the capacity to rear up to eight million sockeye salmon eggs to be released annually as fry into the Okanagan system.&amp;nbsp; ONA Chair, Grand Chief Stewart Phillip says the project is not only a contribution to the Okanagan Nation, but a contribution to the economy of the region.&amp;nbsp; The ground breaking ceremony will take place following the annual release of sockeye fry at 930&amp;nbsp;Thursday morning at Highway 97 and Green Mountain Road.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Ashton collected 10,489 votes compared to 9,225 for Cannings.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Sean Upshaw of the Conservatives and Doug Maxwell of the BC First Party finished a distant third and fourth respectively.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Ashton replaces a retired Bill Barisoff in Victoria... and his victory means there will have to be a by-election to fill the Mayor's chair in Penticton.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Larson collected 7,853 votes compared to 6,656 for the NDP's Sam Hancheroff.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;John Kwasnica of the Green Party finished third in the riding followed by Independants Mischa Popoff and Doug Pederson.&lt;/p&gt;
