Woes Continue for Southern Okanagan Secondary School

9/28/2012

The Southern Okanagan Secondary School is finally in the rebuilding stage but another bump in the road might slow down the process.

School District 53 Chair Marieze Tarr confirms that the cost of materials such as steel is putting the build way over budget.

"It's going to cost us approximately $1.2 million dollars more than we originally anticipated. So the district is currently meeting with the general contractor"

Tarr says they will look at slashing costs within the budget to help with the deficit.

Last September the school burned to the ground while it was undergoing a multimillion dollar upgrade.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
