9/27/2012
A dozen teams have been confirmed for the World Financial Group Continental Cup coming to Penticton in January.
The curling teams will consist of six North American and six World teams who will participate in team games, mixed doubles, singles and more.
Edmonton native Heather Nedohin will skip one of the teams and make her first appearance at the Cup.
"My husband David Nedohin was a part of the Furbey team and he always use to rave about how excited he was to come to this event. I was always jealous cause I was thinking when will my time come and voila it's now and it's right here in Penticton, it's very exciting."
Nedohin says the Cup is different from any tournament she's participated in and is looking forward to playing in the unique event.
"We ge to do mixed which is always fun to play against other male teams but with another male. And looking at our line up I'm really excited to play with anybody off of the Howard, Martin or McCormick team."
North America and the World are tied at four wins a piece since the inaugural cup in 2002.
A list of the competing teams can be found on the Continental Cup website http://www.curling.ca/championships/continentalcup/
The event will run from January 10-13 at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
